You're welcome, John. Networking should definitely be taught more in college. As for contacting someone after 2 years, I think it might be a little strange at first (wow, I haven't heard from them in ages!), but once that initial surprise wears off, I think most people are excited to re-connect. I think it all depends on the message... if you're reconnecting and just want to ask their help to find a job or ask for something, they'll be defensive. But if your first outreach is neutral and offering something, they'll be more receptive. Thanks for listening. - Jim

Hey Jim,

Thanks for the shout-out! I totally think a "networking 101" course should be required to graduate from college. Think of all the common issues you face newtorking; how to follow up with people, stay connected, etc. I know I have met people who I connect with through a couple of emails, but then how do you follow up and/or stay connected? Do you think it's weird if you have a connection who contacts you randomly after 2 years of no email? Thoughts?

Great podcast by the way :)

Jim,

Thank you so much for including me in your post and podcast! I don't do what I do (make introductions and connect people) for the attention but it sure does feel good to know people notice it!

Thanks again,

If I could only learn to network like Saul... the magic man.

Great quote - “People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.”
Can I use it for my Facebook status or is it copyright?

Thanks for sharing that great quote toward the end! Cool connections clearly demonstrated the value of your theory: That face-to-face interaction should be a regular practice. I agree and look forward to our next meetup!
